What Does this urine Test Result Mean?

concerned with my urinalysis results. these are said to be abnormal. Urine Mucus 1t/lpf, Urine WBC 3-5/hpf, Urine Squamous Epi is 6-10epi/hpf (normal is 0-2), Urine RBC 3-5rbc/hpf. Urine Leukocyte is trace, Urine Blood-Dipstick 2t, Urine Appearance is Hazy. Everything else seems to be ok. What does this mean and I read that sqamous cell elevation can be do to bladder cancer. Should I be worried? Im a 40 year old woman otherwise healthy

Hello,

this is probably a bad specimen. Although cancer may increase the epithelial cells in the urinalysis, increased epithelial cells can also be caused by a 'contaminated' specimen. Be sure to give a good one, using the following instructions:
- wash your external genitals with water
- pull your external labia to avoid contact with the urine flow.
- start to urinate normally and collect only the midstream urine.
- bring the urine to the lab as soon as possible (in less than 1 hour).

The real question, is why did you do the urinalysis. Did you have any symptoms? No lab test can be interpreted on its own. The clinical context is of utmost importance.
